Light in the Darkness - Poem by Kaden

Light in the Darkness

A world of darkness confused and astray,
Many people wander not knowing the way,
Some people search, they look and they try,
Others don´t care, they live and they die,
Yet others have seen of the light,
And go forth doing what is right,
Many stand tall, shining so bright,
Others sit in darkness, not a candle in sight.

This gift we've been given, we´ve seen the light,
So we take up our call, we go forth with our might,
Working and fighting in pain and in strife,
Walking and crawling in this battlefield of life,
In the largest battle we will ever know,
We fight so that one day we may go home.

This call we´ve been given, if at all cost,
We help others, the ones who are lost,
That one day, maybe they´ll see,
That light that flows through you and me,
We knew before birth this thing we must do,
We accepted willingly, both me and you.

It humbles me greatly and makes me sad,
To see all those who don't know what we have,
Why, oh why, choose they not to go unto thee,
Someone, they need, that can give them the key,
Perhaps you or me, can help them to see,
The path that will lead them to thee,
The light in the darkness, our Lord and King,
Jesus Christ, the one, to Him we must bring,
All those who don't know, who hope and do try,
The ones who sit, in the dark, and cry.

One day, I hope, they might all see the light,
Maybe, just maybe, if we work with all our might,
Our joy will be filled, though surrounded by pain,
Because we know we fulfilled the call for which we came,
And then as we depart this battlefield of life,
We will forget, the pain, and the strife,
And once more we all will fall and will cry,
Together with those that we helped survive,
Yes, together we will cry and sing,
"Savior, our Lord, our God, and King!"

Until then we all must fight,
To bring others into the light,
So when it comes time for that glorious day,
All of us, every one, can stand and say,
"We gave all our soul and strength to thee,
We helped all we could, that they might see."

Luke 1:74-79
"That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
And thou, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
(These scriptures are talking about John the baptist. I feel they they apply to us in this day and time as well however.)

John 14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

D&C 4:2
"Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day."
